BIOGRAPHY
Sam Scheibe is an American composer, conductor, and vocalist specializing in traditional and contemporary choral music. His music is driven by wordplay, harmony, and groove. Scheibes influences draw from his experience in traditional choral music, jazz, rock, and pop a cappella.
Sams original music has been performed and commissioned by ensembles across the United States and the United Kingdom including the Frost Chorale, the Catholic Sacred Music Project, Seraphour, Anchorae, Laude, the West Jersey Chamber Music Society, Miami Collegium Musicum, and the University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir. His music has been professionally recorded by the GRAMMY-nominated Westminster Williamson Voices and featured on EWTN. His compositions are published by GIA publications, Walton Music, Gentry Publications, and See-A-Dot Music.
Sam was featured as a composition fellow with the Catholic Sacred Music Project, where he collaborated with Sir James MacMillan and Dr. Timothy McDonnell on the work Iam Lucis, premiered in the Franciscan Monastery in DC and broadcast on EWTN through the Benedict XIV institute.
Sam is the Director of the Penn Glee Club at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Visiting Instructor of Music and Interim Director of Choirs at 酴圖弝け in Danville, KY. Sam previously acted as the Director of Chapel Choir at the Ocean Reef Chapel in Key Largo, Assistant Director at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Coconut Grove, and the Assistant Conductor of the University of Aberdeen Chapel Choir.
As an active performer, Sam appears regularly as a solo vocalist and choral bass-baritone. He has performed with professional ensembles including Seraphic Fire, the Spoleto Festival Chorus, the West Jersey Chamber Music Society, the Same Stream Choir, the Catholic Sacred Music Project, and Choir Next Door. Most recently, he was a featured soloist for the Florida Premier of Frank LaRoccas Mass of the Americas, broadcast on EWTN. He has sung with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra and served as chorus master for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras 2023 performance of Justin Morells All Without Words.
Sam Scheibe holds a Master's Degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where he studied with Dr. Amanda Quist. He earned a Bachelors of Music degree in music education from Westminster Choir College and a Master's in composition from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
